My Love Awaits in Atlantis Estates, reading and performance developed for the Haus am Waldsee, curated by Pia-Marie Remmers as part of the public programming for the exhibition Bruno Pélassy and the Order of the Starfish, Dec 9th, 2023.
Part I is a compilation of new and old slideshow readings about love, property and alienation.
Part II takes a docu-fictional guided tour of “Atlantis Estates”, a new property development project consisting of 7 luxury homes surrounding a lake. The tour flows through the gardens and ends near the water with a settler urban legend about “the house at the bottom of the lake”.
Part III recounts the memories of a kid growing up in “Atlantis Estates” and “dreaming of a place beyond the estate, of a love far away”. Knowing nothing beyond the gated community, the kid can only imagine escape through the bottom, through seeing their lover’s face in the ghostly shimmers of the house spinning slowly and glowing at the bottom of the lake.
